Introducing Lydia Rascher

Hello, my name is Lydia, and I am an intern at 100 Million, where I use my research and writing skills to support the campaign and the movement against child labor and the fight for children’s rights.

I am currently a fourth-year student at Northeastern University, where I study International Affairs and Sociology. My interests lie in both analyzing how history affects the current international social and political environments and also in using this analysis as well as cooperating with others to strengthen the communities that I am in. A major part of my interest lies in listening to other people’s stories, especially those from around the world. I am learning Spanish, German, and Korean as they help me to appreciate stories in people’s native languages. Stories motivate me to appreciate communities throughout the world and understand the importance of support within them. In my own local community of Boston, I enjoy working at the animal shelter and an organization that hosts Model UN conferences for middle school and high school students. This experience has particularly fueled my appreciation of how creative, intelligent, and important children’s ideas are when it comes to changing the world through policy and action.

The younger generations are vital to changing the world in the fight for human rights, especially for children. I am so excited to be a part of 100 Million, as it is a great platform for empowering the younger generations to do just that, and I cannot wait to see what more we will be able to achieve.
